Raccoon Selected to Palm Springs and makes International Debut at Montreal
September 2005 - The award winning short, Raccoon, will makes its International premier at the 1st Annual Montreal International Film Festival.

The Montreal Fest, which will hold its inaugural edition September 18 to 25, 2005, is a prestigious competitive event open to films by acclaimed directors and young newcomers to producers, independent distributors, as well as to major studios.

Raccoon has also been selected to the prestigious 11th Annual Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films and Film Market. Palm Spring's dynamic convergence of filmmakers and the film industry makes it one of the most respected short film festivals in the world. The Festival takes place from September 20th to 26th, 2005.

Raccoon made its World Premier at the Aspen ShortsFest in April 2005 and went on to win the Texas Filmmaker award at the USA Film Festival in Dallas. It made its television premier on UPN in July, 2005. Raccoon stars Jonathan Togo (CSI: Miami, Mystic River) and Ben Curtis (Spy, National Dell Commercials). Trey Nelson directed and adapted the script from Richard Chiappone's book Water of An Undetermined Depth.

Recently, Trey Nelson and Richard Chiappone adpated the book of short stories into a feature script.

The play Joy is beginning its off-broadway run in the Summer. It will be at the Actor's Playhouse on Seventh ave and Christopher street in New York.  Officially opening August 14th.

AlsoRan Films is proud to announce that RACCOON has won the Texas Filmmaker Award at the 35th Annual USA Film Festival !!!

The festival is one of only a few festivals worldwide recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as able to send its top prize winners to compete for the Oscars.

Past Prize Winners – emerging filmmakers at the time  in the National Short Film and Video Competition include Todd Haynes (Far From Heaven), Billy Bob Thornton, Alexander Payne (Sideways), and many others. In addition, RACCOON has been selected to attend the Montreal Film Festival in September.
